Bridge Crane and 40t Carrier
CP&A designed a complete 350-foot long, 80-ton under-hung tri-bridge overhead crane system plus a new 40-ton, 4 hoist/rotate carrier trolley. CP&A provided complete mechanical and structural design services including; structural analysis, mechanical component selection, and complete shop-level detail production drawings for all mechanical, structural and electrical components. Also included was engineering support and services related to fabrication, assembly and installation. CP&A provided complete 3-D solids models of the trolley, including all structural elements and mechanical equipment.
The carrier trolley can transfer from bridge to bridge. Two 40-ton carriers may operate on a single 80-ton bridge. There are 12 axis of motion on each carrier. Each carrier can travel in the trolley direction and rotate. Under the rotate system there are two load beams that can move. Each load beam contains two 10-ton hoists. Each 10-ton hoist can move laterally and lift independently.
CP&A has been awarded engineering services related to a similar set of cranes at two additional aerospace facilities.
