Bridge Traveller
Under bridge maintenance and repair traveler rehabilitation.
Bridges require preventive and regular maintenance as part of their structural inspection program. Bridge travelers help workers access critical areas of a bridge in order to carry out the inspection and repair work without impacting the flow of traffic.
This bridge traveler experienced a failure of one of the underhung trucks. CP&A was contracted by American Crane and Equipment Corporation (ACECO) to perform engineering services related to repair, root cause, and modification of the bridge traveler.
CP&A performed finite element analysis in order to evaluate the adequacy of the existing traveler structure and retrofit it with ACECO's end trucks and propulsion system. Additionally CP&A traveled to ACECO's facility to inspect the structure for any damage that needed to be repaired after the failure.
