Two cranes were damaged during the voyage between Italy and PNCT. CP&A was
retained to analyze the crane structures subjected to the voyage forces.
The purpose of the analysis was to determine the crane’s structural
components' remaining fatigue life.
Non-Linear Time History Analysis (NLTHA) models were created to simulate
the ship motions. The stress and fatigue damage were calculated according
the NLTHA results using CP&A's proprietary Software. The normal operation
stress and fatigue life were calculated according the linear FEA models.
Assessed fatigue based on the normal operation and the voyage to determine
the remaining fatigue life.
